Olympic Gold Rush

Exactly a month before breaking makes its historic debut at the Olympic Games, "Olympic Goldrush" was launched. In this four-part English-language audio documentary Iselle Claassens follows the efforts and dreams of breakers Lee Demierre, Gaëtan “Lagaet” Alin, and Tawfiq Amrani on their journey to make history in Paris.

In "Olympic Goldrush," Lee, Tawfiq, and Lagaet share their personal stories, from the origins of their passion for breaking to their intense preparation for the Olympic Games. Listeners gain a unique insight into the successes, setbacks, and choices they have had to make along the way. The three of them are all part of the same breaking crew (The Ruggeds), but represent different national teams in the qualification process for the Olympic Games. Lee represents the Netherlands, Lagaet represents France, and Tawfiq represents Morocco.

The podcast offers listeners a unique insight into how breaking is evolving from a cultural movement into a recognized sport discipline, and both positive and negative aspects of this transformation.
